LIASA Western Cape Librarian of the Year

LIASA Western Cape Branch is proud to announce that its Librarian of the Year candidate is Nohra Moerat.

Having worked in public libraries before, both at a local and provincial level, Nohra is currently the GM: Group Libraries & Archives at E-TV. During her career Nohra has shown both innovativeness as well as dedication to promoting the use and value of the library. She has both formally trained staff as well as mentored staff during her career.

As a staunch supporter of the Library Association, Nohra has also played a vital role in the development of LIASA from its infancy to present day. Nohra formed part of the team that organised the first Western Cape Conference in 1999, having been responsible for the publicity and media surrounding the Conference. She was then co-opted as Branch PRO and eventually elected National PRO of LIASA, a role she carried out over 2 terms of office. In this role Nohra initiated the formal recognition of SA Library Week with the National Department of Arts & Culture and managed the national launch of SA Library Week in various centres around South Africa. Nohra also arranged Authors and Writers sessions at the 2001-2004 LIASA Conferences. Nohra has also been the editor of LIASA-in-Touch between 2003-2007 and formed part of the Editorial Management Board of the SA Journal for Libraries and Information Science (SAJLIS).

It is for these reasons that the Western Cape endorses its nomination of this outstanding Librarian of excellence.

Kind regards.
