Appointment of new LIASA Membership Administrator

On behalf of the LIASA Executive Council and the LIASA Representative Council, we would like to welcome Ms. Louise Coetzee, who has been appointed as membership administrator. Louise will be administering and managing the Association’s membership database as well as other membership tasks.

Louise matriculated from Framesby High School in Port Elizabeth and then attended the University of Port Elizabeth. She taught at the Commercial High School where she was also the school librarian for seven years. She has also worked in the offices of the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry and PBMR (Pebble Bed Modular Reactor). At PBMR she worked on and initiated various databases, placed contracts, sourced books and information from all over the world and controlled a large library budget. Louise is married to Jannie Coetzee and has two sons. Her passions are charity work (Lions of Pretoria South), cooking traditional South African dishes, pearl binding and dogs.

Reminder about End-of-year Recruitment breakfast and a special request

A reminder about the end-of-year Recruitment Breakfast and a special request.

This year we are very pleased that author Margie Orford will be joining us to share her thoughts about writing and libraries. Margie says she is a great fan of librarians, especially those who support South African writers. And don't t miss this opportunity to renew your membership or join LIASA and catch the Early Bird Registration period. Membership is R350.

LIASA Membership Fees for 2011 - Early Bird reminder

Please find attached a reminder to renew your membership and/or encourage your colleagues to join or renew LIASA.

Renewal of LIASA membership for 2011

The 2011 LIASA Membership Fees was recently announced at the LIASA Conference. As of 1 January 2011, the following membership fees will apply:

Membership category
Individual membership R375
Full time students / pensioner, etc. R215
International Individual membership R110
Africa Individual membership R55
SA Institutional membership R1650
International Institutional membership R220
Africa Institutional membership R100

However, the annual LIASA Early Bird Membership offer is once again available to LIASA members until 31 December 2010. Take advantage of the Early Bird offer by joining or renewing your membership on or before 31 December 2010 and still pay the 2010 fee. For example, individual membership paid on or before 31 December, and the 2010 fee of R350 will apply!

As a further incentive, you may also utilise the 3 month installment payment option when taking advantage of the Early Bird offer:
1. R120 by 31 October 2010;
2. R120 by 30 November 2010; and
3. R110 by the 31 December 2010.
