Teaching & Learning (Librarians as Teachers) Workshop- WCHELIG


WCHELIG invites you to a Workshop on 13 June 2012 at 8.30 for 09.00 – 12.00

Venue: Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) - Bellville Branch, Conference Room 2

Workshop Title: Librarians as Teachers

Presenters: Prof Jeff Jawitz, HAESDU, University of Cape Town
                 Mr Joseph Mangadi, University of the Western Cape Library
                 Susanne Noll, University of Cape Town Library

The workshop is designed to help librarians think about their role as teachers within the university environment. There will be a special focus on developing the language to talk about and examine the special nature of teaching in the library. The workshop will also look at the challenges of working around the information literacy outcomes required by most graduates.

Workshop outline:
1. Understanding the teaching role of librarians: Who we teach and what we teach
2. Tools to help us talk about our teaching.
3. In what way is our teaching special?
4. Case study: teaching information literacy

Fees:
R30.00 for LIASA members
R50.00 for non LIASA members
