The National Library of SA wishes to make the following appointment at Pretoria Campus at Information and Communication Technology Department.
DEPUTY MANAGER: INFORMATION & COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY
Post Level 6
Salary Scale: R 169 058 per annum (negotiable) plus competitive benefits
Job purpose: To maintain and support the network, hardware and software infrastructure of the National Library of South Africa in order to ensure maximum security of NLSA's resources.
. Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent
qualification plus 3 years experience in an ICT environment (library
background will also serve as an added advantage).
. Proven supervisory skills.
. Knowledge of Open Source Software (OSS), Novell and Windows OS.
. Good communication skills. (Oral and written).
. Project management skills.
. Strategic planning and budgeting skills.
. Network infrastructure-planning skills and risk management.
Key performance areas:
. Configuration, implementation and ongoing maintenance and support of all hardware and network
. Define, set-up and maintain networking of system printers and print server functions
. Back-ups and security of all servers
. Access security of hardware and access security of all systems
. Advise EH: ICT on operating software contracts and license renewals
. Quality assurance
. Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and practices of software, network and hardware related issues
. Continuous monitoring of performance of the network and hardware and recommending maintenance and upgrading
. Project management
. Risk management
Reporting to the Executive Head: Information and Communication Technology
