2007 African Guest Librarian Scholarship Programme at Nordic Africa Institute, Uppsala, Sweden

The Nordic Africa Institute in Uppsala, Sweden is announcing an African Guest Librarian programme for 2007. The application deadline is 15 June 2007. The African Guest Librarian programme is aimed at young professional librarians working in African academic or research
libraries with a social science focus. The programme is a mixture of hands-on work experience, study visits and an exchange of skills and ideas. The duration of the programme is 4-6 weeks in Uppsala, Sweden, preferably in the period September - November.

*The Institute*
The Nordic Africa Institute in Uppsala, Sweden is a research, documentation and information centre on modern Africa aimed at the Nordic countries. It promotes research and studies on Africa within theNordic countries and encourages co-operation between African and Nordic researchers. It also disseminates information about current African issues. The working languages at the institute are Swedish and English.

The library at the Nordic Africa Institute specialises in contemporaryAfrica and targets users throughout the Nordic regions. The collections, consisting of approximately 60 000 titles, cover the entire continent with the focus on the social sciences.
