INVITATION: Distinguished Library Lecture, 4 March 2008

The University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (Wits), invites you to a distinguished library lecture taking place on 4 March 2008 at 18H00 in the University Great Hall, East Campus.

The lecture is the first of the recently initiated annual Distinguished Library Lecture series to coincide with the broader celebration of National Library Week in March each year. It is part of Wits' ongoing efforts to take library and information services closer to users and will bring to the University distinguished persons, whose works have made a significant contribution to libraries, society and academia, to deliver inspiring public lectures to academics, students, librarians and associated communities.

As its first Distinguished Library Lecturer, Wits has invited Dr Sohair Wastawy, the Chief Librarian of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Alexandria, Egypt. She will visit the University in the week 2-7 March 2008 and, among other events, give a public lecture on Tuesday 4 March 2008.
