Title: Online Access for the Public at the United States National Archives

Summary: Carol Lagundo and Rebecca Warlow from the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) will discuss how NARA is developing its online search capabilities, digitization strategies, and social media to meet the 21st century needs of the public, researchers, and the U.S. Federal government. Their presentation will focus both on the business and the technological changes happening at NARA to improve online access to the records held by the U.S. National Archives.

Carol Lagundo is an IT Specialist and Project Manager for the Digital Strategies and Services Staff. She is a certified Project Management Professional with more than 10 years experience managing complex IT projects that support NARA's description and authority services. She assisted in the development of NARA's Archival Research Catalog (ARC) and oversees the day-to-day administration of the ARC system. Ms.

Lagundo chairs the Online Public Access (OPA) Working Group, working with NARA staff and contractors to implement the public access component of NARA's Electronic Records Archive (ERA).

Rebecca Warlow is a Supervisory Program and Management Analyst on the Digital Strategies and Services Staff. She is responsible for managing the content of NARA's Archival Research Catalog (ARC), training NARA staff on description standards, and coordinating digitization for access. Ms. Warlow also chairs NARA's Digitization Working Group, oversees NARA's wiki for researchers called Our Archives, and writes for NARA's blog, NARAtions.
