Audio-visual Archivists
JOB DESCRIPTION
The core function of the e.tv Archive service is to support e.tv staff,
outside production houses and independent producers through the
provision of appropriate audio -visuals.
Tasks
* Timeous provision of appropriate audio-visual material on request to
e.tv departments primarily News and Current Affairs, production houses
and independent producers
* Selection of raw footage worth archiving
* Cataloguing and shot listing of materials
* Use Reuters Desktop, Dalet and Access 2000 for shot listing and
cataloguing
* Conduct online research using desktop systems and Internet in order to
select suitable and relevant visuals for compilation
* Produce compilations of audio- visual material on frequently requested
topics as and when required
* Providing reference and information services to clients
Qualifications
* A post matric qualification in library and information science or related field
* IT skills and computer literacy
* Knowledge of online databases
Personal attributes:
* An ability to work with visual media
* Able to work long hours and shifts
* An ability to work under pressure
* A passion for news, current affairs and sport
* A keen desire to work in the television industry
