Appraisal of records: key to efficient and effective management of organisational records 8 May 2008

Who should attend?:
All those who want to learn how to appraise paper-based and electronoc records.

Workshop contents:
The appraisal of paper-based and electronic records

At the end of the workshop participants will be able to:

- formulate draft appraisal decisions
- draft appraisal policy, and
- appreciate the challenges of managing appraisal processes in an electronic environment.

About the Presenter:

Prof Patrick Ngulube has extensive experience in records and archives management. He worked for seventeen years as a records manager at the National Archives of Zimbabwe. He lectured in records management at the Harare Polytechnic College from 1995 to 2000. He has been a lecturer in records and archives at the University of KwaZulu-Natal since 2000.

Prof Ngulube consulted with Mr B. Abbot for the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, 6-7 August, Arusha, Tanzania in 2003 regarding information and knowledge management. He conducted a records management workshop at the National Research Foundation on 9 July 2003. He was a member of the Archives and Records Management Standards Generating Board of South Africa in the framework of the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) from 2000-2001.

Prof Ngulube is an Executive Board member of the Eastern and Southern Africa Regional Branch of the International Council on Archives (ESARBICA). He has presented papers on records management locally, nationally and internationally. He has published extensively in scientific journals on information management.
